Islands Turks-and-Caicos are an archipelago of the Antilles, located southeast of the Bahamas (Caribbean in the North).
They consist of a string of thirty islands with a total land area of 161 sq.mi or 417 km² for 26 000 unhabitants.
Turks and Caicos Islands are a British Overseas Territory and are north of the island of Hispaniola, home to Haiti and the Dominican Republic, in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
The Head of State of Turkey and Caicos Islands is the queen of the United Kingdom, currently Elizabeth II, heir to the title of queen and Caicos Islands Turkey and leader of the international organization of the Commonwealth, and invested with the functions of head of State for the State of the United Kingdom (including the islands are an overseas territory and formerly a colony, but not an independent state).
It is represented in the territory by a governor. It is one of 16 territories under the supervision of the Decolonization Committee of the United Nations, to eliminate colonialism.

Both groups of Islands are north of the Atlantic Ocean and south-eastern Bahamas and about 648 miles ( 1045 kilometers) from Miami in the U.S.

The territory is geographically contiguous to the Bahamas, which also includes the Lucayan archipelago, but is politically a separate entity.
The archipelago consists of eight main islands and more than 20 small islands with a total area of ( 616.3 km² ) , 238 sq mi.
In general the terrain is low and all the islands are composed of multiple and mangrove swamps with over 128 square miles ( 332 km²) of beach.
The weather is usually sunny and dry, but suffers frequent hurricanes. The islands are limited natural fresh water resources, private cisterns collect rainwater for drinking. The main natural resources are lobster, conch and other seafood The two different groups of islands are separated by the passage of the Turks.
Caicos Islands
The Caicos Islands are the largest group of islands in the archipelago, with nearly 96% of the area of 227.6 square and 82% of the population (26 584 33 302 in 2006).
The Caicos Islands are located around the Caicos sandbank, like an atoll, with the six largest islands in the west, north and east, and some small reefs and atolls in the South.
In Caicos, a sandbank of limestone under water, in which other islands, covers an area of (6,140 km²) 2.370 square miles.
The area consists of sand mixed with coral reefs, algae and other natural habitats, usually at depths of 1 to 5 meters .
Main islands:
Middle Caicos: county seat is Conch Bar
North Caicos: county seat is Bottle Creek.
South Caicos and East Caicos: the leader of this district is Cockburn Harbour.
Providenciales and West Caicos: Blue Hills is the county seat.

Climate
Islands Turks and Caicos have a tropical climate hot and dry.
The islands typically receive between 500 and 600 mm per year (Nice receives between 700 and 800 mm).
Rainy days are few, with 46 rainy days per year. The islands suffer from aridity. The wet season is very short and sharp, from October to December.
