The Cayman Islands are a British Overseas Territory.
The archipelago is located in north-west between Jamaica and the island of Cuba and the coast of Honduras, within the waters of the Caribbean Sea.

The Caymans are one of the16 territories under the supervision of the Decolonization Committee of the United Nations, to eliminate colonialism. Have been colonized by British explorers between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries and began to be administered by the Government of Jamaica from 1863.
When Jamaica became independent in 1962, the Cayman Islands have become a territory administered by the British Empire.
The three islands offer opportunities for scuba diving. There are several reefs and places where tourists can swim with stingrays at Stingray City including Grand Cayman.
About 60% of the population is of mixed race (most African-European). The remaining 40%, about half are of European descent and half are of African descent. The islands are almost exclusively Christian, with a large number of Presbyterians and Catholics.
History
The Cayman Islands were discovered by Christopher Columbus May 10, 1503 during his fourth voyage to America.
In 1586 Francis Drake landed on the islands, becoming the first Englishman who recorded the visit, and he named the Cayman Islands.
The islands, near Jamaica were occupied by Britain during the Anglo-Spanish War of 1655-1660, Spain formally recognized British sovereignty over them by the Treaty of Madrid in 1670.
In 1788, ten ships returned to Britain from Jamaica have been shipwrecked on the shores of the largest island and were greeted by the natives. By this action, King George III of the United Kingdom issued the regulation of tax payments, a situation that continues to this day.
With Jamaica, the Cayman Islands were considered as a colony until 1962 when he became a British territory overseas while Jamaica earned its independence (within the Commonwealth of Nations).

The Cayman Islands are located in the western Caribbean Sea, about 149 miles (240 kilometers) south of Cuba and about 290 miles northwest of Jamaica.
The archipelago consists principally of three islands: Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, Grand Cayman being the largest with an area of 76 sq. mi, (197 Km²).
The two other islands, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman are located 145 miles east of Grand Cayman, with an area of 14 sq.mi (36 km²) and 10 sq.mi (26 km ²) respectively.
No geographical features highlighted in the islands, with the exception of the cliff "The Bluff" on Cayman Brac, which rises 40 meters above sea level, is the culmination of Island
Tourism
One of the main attractions on the island of Grand Cayman is Seven Mile Beach, on which there are several hotels and resorts. Visitors are attracted by the GCM historical sites such as the Castel of Saint-Jacques in BoddenTown.

The Cayman Islands have recorded more companies than people.
The latest population estimates of the Cayman Islands are about 54,000 , a mixture of over 100 nationalities. Of these, about half are descendants of the Cayman Islands.
